Blowback Filter to Handle Large Amounts of Powder

Users of vacuum pump must not be unfamiliar with the hazards of powder. Vacuum pump as a precision equipment is very sensitive to powder. Once powder enter the vacuum pump during operation, it will causing wear and tear of the pump. So most vacuum pumps will install inlet filters to filter powder.

However, when the amount of powder is large, filtering it becomes a tricky problem. The filtering ability of the filter cartridge is limited, especially some common filter cartridges on the market. They cannot deal with the problem. Perhaps in the early stages of use, everything runs normally. But after a short period of use, you will find that the filter element has been blocked, and decrease the pumping speed. It may lead to the shutdown of the vacuum pump. What’s worse is the powder enters the vacuum pump and damages it as we mentioned above.

The simplest solution is to replace the filter element. But it is also the most troublesome method due to the frequent replacement requirements. Besides, its cost is very high. You may even need to replace the entire filter. Blowback filter emerge as the times require to solve this problem more efficiently.

Compared with ordinary filter elements, the biggest difference of blowback filter is the addition of a blowback port at its exhaust port and a drain below it. Under normal operating conditions, gas enters from the inlet, passes through the filter element, and then discharges from the exhaust port. When the vacuum pump enters standby mode or shuts down, we can clean the filter element inside by blowing back - gas will enter the interior of the filter element from the blowback port, blowing the powder on the surface of the filter element down to the drain.

Overall, common filters are not durable under conditions with a lot of powder, and blowback filters have a longer lifespan and are easier to clean. Therefore, although blowback filters are more expensive, they are more cost-effective in the long run.
