What is the fineness of vacuum pump filter?

The vacuum pump filter is an indispensable part of most vacuum pumps. The inlet trap protects the vacuum pump from solid impurities such as dust; while the oil mist filter is used for oil-sealed vacuum pumps to filter the discharged, which can not only protect the environment, but also capture pump oil molecules, thereby recovering some pump oil. Many vacuum pump users are confused about the fineness of the filter or have misunderstandings. We will tell you what filtration fineness is and how to choose fineness of filter.

Filtration fineness refers to the maximum particle diameter allowed to pass through the filter material. This concept is mostly used for inlet trap. The inlet trap is installed in front of the vacuum pump, which will form air resistance and affect the vacuum pump's air extraction. The higher the fineness, that is, the smaller the pore size, the higher the air resistance. Therefore, the appropriate accuracy is to reduce the air resistance as much as possible while keeping the impurities down.

The oil mist filter is to intercept all the oil in the exhaust gas as much as possible, and it will not affect the vacuum pump's air extraction. Therefore, for the oil mist filter, there is no need to consider the fineness.

All in all, it is enough to have a similar pore size to the impurity size. We should select the fineness according to the size of the impurity. The fineness is generally measured in microns. If you really don't know how big the impurity is, you can just tell us what the impurity is. In addition, our filter element materials include paper, polyester and stainless steel, which need to be selected according to the working conditions. The right filter material plus the right fineness is the right inlet trap!
