What is “Vacuum Breaking”?

Do you know the concept of vacuum? Vacuum refers to a state in which the gas pressure in a certain space is lower than the standard atmospheric pressure. Generally, vacuum is achieved by various vacuum pumps. Vacuum breaking means that in a specific situation, breaking the vacuum state in a container or system by some means, usually by introducing air or other gases to increase the pressure.

Creating a vacuum is often done to reduce external influences and to process certain precision objects, while breaking the vacuum means that the process has been completed. But due to the large pressure difference inside and outside the vacuum container, if we want to open the container and take out the workpieces, we must let air into the interior to balance the air pressure.

During the operation of the vacuum pump, in order to avoid the dust and other impurities affect the quality of the workpiece, users often install an inlet filter in front of the vacuum pump. For the same reason, breaking the vacuum also requires a filter. Because if the vacuum is broken by opening the valve to introduce external gas, then dust and other impurities will still be sucked into the cavity. And because the cavity is contaminated, it will also affect the next batch of workpieces to be processed. Therefore, breaking the vacuum also requires a filter. The filter is the same, but the installation position is different.

It is worth noting that the valves for breaking vacuum are usually small. When breaking vacuum, a sharp noise will be generated due to the large amount of gas entering the chamber through the narrow pipe. Therefore, breaking vacuum often requires a silencer.

In order to help customers solve problems at one time, we have also developed silencers that can reduce the noise by 30-40 decibels. Welcome to contact us to get further information!
